Science & Technology Information and Dissemination Center (STIDC)

Science & Technology Information and Dissemination Center (STIDC) is a division of the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), Chinese Academy of Sciences. STIDC) comprises one library, two academic journal editorial boards.

STIDC has websites both in Chinese and English. The two journals, Journal of Mountain Science(in English), Mountain Research(in Chinese), also have independent websites.

Presently, STIDC has 13 staffs. 

IMHE Library

The IMHE library is mainly engaged in the construction and management of literature resources, the service of information retrieval and consultation for IMHE staffs and counterparts outside the institute, the collection and research on mountain science strategic intelligence, and information retrieval training to students and staffs of the institute.

The library covers an area of 600 m2, which is equipped with computers with internet access, photocopy machines, and printers. The number of items in the library collection is over 270 thousand, including books, journals, maps, satellite and aerial photos, science photos, audio-visual, multimedia resources on environment science, geographic science, agricultural sciences, and humanities and social sciences. The library provide authorized users of the IMHE with access to 50 electronic databases, 110 thousand e-books, 30 thousand e-journals, 900 thousand dissertations, and 42 million items of patents.

The IMHE library has established Automated Storage Retrieval System (ASR) and Institutional Repository of IMHE (IR-IMHE). IR-IMHE has collected papers, conference proceedings, books, patent literature, software registration information, scientific data, power point files, pictures published/designed/produced by the staffs of the IMHE, and papers from the two journals sponsored by the IMHE. 

 

Journal of Mountain Science

The Journal of Mountain Science (Hereafter abbreviated as JMS), founded in 2004, is an international English-language journal on mountain sciences. The JMS is supervised by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), sponsored by the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS, published by Science Press China, and distributed by Springer throughout the world (excluding Mainland China). The JMS is a bimonthly journal with 6 issues a year since 2011, and will be monthly from 2016.

JMS is devoted to mountains and their surrounding lowlands - ecoregions of particular global importance, with a particular emphasis on the important highlands/ mountains in the world, such as the Tibetan Plateau, the Himalayas, the Alps, the Andes, the Rockies and many other mountain ranges of our planet. JMS publishes research and technical papers on mountain environment, mountain ecology, mountain hazards, mountain resources and mountain development. JMS accepts both individual and organizational contributions, and all manuscripts are required to be submitted online on http://mc03.manuscriptcentral.com/jmsjournal.

JMS is indexed/abstracted in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition, SCOPUS, Academic OneFile, Chinese Science Citation Database, CSA, Gale, GeoRef, Google Scholar, OCLC. Full texts of JMS are included in SpringerLink and CNKI literature databases.

Mountain Research

Mountain Research, founded in 1983, is co-published by the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS and the Geography Society of China. It is a comprehensive academic journal in the area of mountain research. It has been listed in the Chinese Core Journals Overview, Chinese Core Journals in Natural Science (Source Journals of Chinese Scientific Papers), and Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD). It has been included in China Journal Full-text Database (CNKI), Digital Periodicals of China Info, Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database, China Academic Journal (CD) and China Journal Net. It has been indexed by Geo Ref Preview Database since 2010 and JST China since 2011.
